Ring of Fire - Social Distortion

Warning-pointless home made video ahead. If a still photo of the album can be considered a 'video'. This Social Distortion cover is one of those songs that brings out extremes of opinion-from the 'very good' to 'insert cursing here' comments and opinions. Very little middle ground, it seems. But the internet wouldn't be full of moaners and doomers, would it? Recorded by the late, great Johnny Cash in 1963 for his 'Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash' album, the song eventually became Johnny's most successful single, remaining at number one for seven weeks. However, this version was actually a cover in itself. Johnny's sister-in-law, Anita Carter, recorded the song as '(Love's) Ring of Fire' in 1962 for her album called, oddly enough, 'Ring of Fire'. Johnny took the song when it failed to prove a hit, and recorded it differently, most notably adding the mariachi horns. When Social Distortion released their version in 1990 on the self-titled album 'Social Distortion', it also proved a hit, becoming the most commercially successful remake of the song, reaching number 25 on the Modern Rock chart.
